Message of Ambassador
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Japan. I have the privilege and great honor to serve as the Ambassador of Tunisia to Japan, looking forward to the development of the already excellent relations between our two countries. Although distant in geography, Japan and Tunisia have many similarities: a long and rich history of 3,000 years, the attachment of their peoples to their cultures, their thirst for knowledge and new technologies and the service of peace and friendship in the world. Moreover, Tunisia and Japan are at the same latitude and have the same four seasons. Under the leadership of His Excellency President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Tunisia has managed, in a relatively short period of time, to make significant gains on the political, economic and social fields. Tunisia’s policies and achievements won the respect and consideration of the international community which presents the Tunisia as a model of success for developing countries. A model based on continual search for better balance between the imperatives of sustained economic development and the demands for coherent social promotion. Tunisia is also the first country on the southern coast of the Mediterranean to have concluded a partnership and cooperation agreement with the European Union, the main component of which was the establishment of a free-trade area. We trust that more and more Japanese companies will be attracted by Tunisia's proximity and preferential trading relations with the European Union, by its highly qualified human resources as well as by an Investment Code which offers foreign investors considerable incentives and exemptions. We are also working on having more Japanese Tourists visit Tunisia in the future to discover its beautiful nature, delicious cuisine, rich cultural and historical heritage from Hannibal’s Carthage to modern days Tunisia, and the warm hospitality of its people. I hope this website will provide you with all the information you may need about Tunisia, from general introductions on history, culture, economy and politics to the latest news, business opportunities, upcoming events and travel advises. Thank you for visiting our website and for your continuous interest in Tunisia. Noureddine Hached |
